Master Educator
Description: The Master Educator is a 750-hour program. The student will learn the skills and techniques needed to become an effective cosmetology instructor. The students in training will be made familiar with the GA laws and regulations in the field of cosmetology, barber, nail, nails and hair. They will learn how to effectively deliver the teaching materials in ways that the students can comprehend. Student learns how to develop curriculum, prepare lesson plan and how to present the lesson classroom management and discipline and demonstration and lectures. Finally, applying all learned knowledge in practicing his/her teaching.
Objectives: The course is designed to prepare students with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to not only pass the Georgia state licensing examinations but to also become an effective instructor. Upon the completion of the course and obtained licensure, students will be able to:
1. Have a positive attitude and outlook as an instructor.
2. Communicate effectively with co-workers and students.
3. To give students professional advice on topics related to the filed.
4. Utilize tools and techniques to deliver lessons more effectively.
5. Adopt and solve problems that arise from the teaching environment. To ensure students in training as instructors remain in good standard with GA State Board requirements, students are encouraged to stay informed and obtain necessarily Continued Education Hours for licensing renewal.
The course is 750 hours including the following subjects:
GA Law and Regulation in Cosmetology, Barbering, Esthetics, Nails, and Hair Design In this module, students will gain an in-depth understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing the practice of cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, nails, and hair design in Georgia. Topics include:
- Overview of the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers
- Licensing requirements and procedures for practitioners and instructors
- State laws and regulations on sanitation, health, and safety standards
- Inspection and compliance protocols
- Ethical practices and professional conduct
- Legal responsibilities and liabilities of cosmetology instructors and practitioners
Cosmetology Teaching Principles This course focuses on the foundational principles of teaching cosmetology. Students will learn how to effectively convey complex information to students and foster a positive learning environment. Key areas of study include:
- Curriculum development and lesson planning
- Instructional methods and pedagogical strategies
- Classroom management techniques
- Assessment and evaluation of student performance
- Strategies for addressing diverse learning styles and needs
- Incorporating current trends and advancements in cosmetology education
Nail Teaching Principles In this segment, students will explore specialized teaching methods tailored to nail technology education. The curriculum covers:
- Comprehensive overview of nail anatomy and physiology
- Instructional techniques for teaching nail care procedures and treatments
- Demonstrating and supervising hands-on practice
- Safety and sanitation practices specific to nail care
- Developing engaging and informative nail technology lessons
- Assessment and feedback methods to improve student skill levels
Esthetic Teaching Principles This course segment is dedicated to the principles of teaching esthetics. Students will learn how to effectively educate others in skincare and related treatments. Topics include:
- Skin anatomy and physiology
- Techniques for teaching facial and body treatments
- Instruction in makeup application and advanced esthetic procedures
- Hygiene and infection control in esthetic practices
- Use of esthetic equipment and technology in the classroom
- Creating a comprehensive curriculum for esthetic education
Teaching Techniques and Audio-Visual Aids Students will be introduced to various teaching techniques and the effective use of audio-visual aids to enhance learning. This course includes:
- Modern teaching techniques and their application in cosmetology education
- Utilizing technology in the classroom, including video tutorials, digital presentations, and online resources
- Design and use of instructional materials and visual aids
- Interactive teaching methods, such as demonstrations and hands-on activities
- Best practices for engaging students through multimedia tools
- Evaluating the effectiveness of different teaching aids
Practice in Teaching This practical course provides students with hands-on experience in teaching. Under the supervision of experienced instructors, students will:
- Develop and deliver lesson plans in a real classroom setting
- Gain experience in managing a classroom and maintaining student engagement
- Implement various teaching methods and techniques learned in coursework
- Receive constructive feedback on their teaching practices and adjust accordingly
- Assess student learning and provide individualized support.
