Esthetician Instructor

Description: The Esthetician Instructor course is a 500-Hour Program. Student will learn the skills and techniques needed to become an effective Esthetician instructor. The students in training will be made familiar with the GA cosmetology and barber laws and regulations. They will learn how to effectively deliver the teaching materials in ways that the students can comprehend. Student learns how to develop curriculum, prepare lesson plan and how to present the lesson classroom management and discipline and demonstration and lectures. And finally, applying all learned knowledge in practicing his/her teaching.

Objectives: The course is designed to prepare students with the skills, knowledge, and abilities to not only pass the Georgia state licensing examinations but to also become an effective instructor. Upon the completion of the course and obtained licensure, students will be able to:

1. Have a positive attitude and outlook as an instructor.

2. Communicate effectively with co-workers and students.

3. To give students professional advice on topics related to the filed.

4. Utilize tools and techniques to deliver lessons more effectively.

5. Adopt and solve problems that arise from the teaching environment. To ensure students in training as instructors remain in good standard with GA State Board requirements, students are encouraged to stay informed and obtain necessarily Continued Education Hours for licensing renewal.

The course is 500 hours and includes the following:

GA Law and Regulation in Cosmetology and Barbering

In this course, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework governing the cosmetology and barbering professions in Georgia. Topics include:

  • Licensing Requirements: Detailed exploration of the requirements for obtaining and renewing esthetician and instructor licenses in Georgia.
  • State Board Rules and Regulations: An in-depth look at the rules and regulations set forth by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers, including health and safety standards, sanitation protocols, and ethical practices.
  • Compliance and Enforcement: Understanding the processes and consequences of non-compliance with state laws, including inspections, citations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Consumer Protection Laws: Review of laws designed to protect consumers, including advertising regulations, client confidentiality, and service agreements.

Esthetician Teaching Principles

This course focuses on the fundamental principles of teaching that are essential for effective instruction in esthetics. Key areas of study include:

  • Educational Theory: Examination of various educational theories and how they apply to teaching esthetics. This includes learning styles, adult learning principles, and instructional design.
  • Curriculum Development: Techniques for creating and organizing a comprehensive curriculum that meets state standards and prepares students for licensing exams and professional practice.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Methods for assessing student progress and evaluating the effectiveness of instructional strategies. This includes designing quizzes, tests, practical exams, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Classroom Management: Strategies for maintaining a positive and productive learning environment, including handling disruptive behavior, managing classroom dynamics, and fostering student engagement.

Teaching Techniques and Audio-Visual Aids

This course equips future instructors with a variety of teaching techniques and the effective use of audio-visual aids to enhance learning. Topics include:

  • Instructional Methods: Overview of different instructional methods such as lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, group activities, and flipped classroom models.
  • Use of Technology: Training on the integration of technology in the classroom, including digital presentations, online learning platforms, and interactive tools.
  • Visual Aids: Effective use of visual aids such as slideshows, videos, diagrams, and charts to support and enhance instructional content.

Practice in Teaching

In this practical course, students will apply the theories and techniques learned in a real classroom setting. Key components include:

  • Student Teaching: Hands-on experience in teaching esthetician students under the supervision of experienced instructors. This includes planning and delivering lessons, conducting practical demonstrations, and managing classroom activities.
  • Lesson Planning: Development of detailed lesson plans that align with curriculum objectives and meet diverse learning needs.
  • Classroom Observations: Opportunities to observe experienced instructors and receive feedback on teaching practices.
  • Professional Development: Emphasis on continuous improvement and professional growth as an instructor. This includes self-assessment, peer reviews, and participation in professional development workshops.
