Southland Health and Rehabilitation
A long-term care community with about 100 or so residents, mostly women. Looking for someone who can do cuts and sets, shampoo and hood dry, shampoo and braids, haircuts, men’s haircuts with a beard, perms and sets, relaxer and set, press and curl, and color with set.
The person would set their own prices, however, they must remember that the people are on low fixed incomes, so these rates must be affordable. Usually, we do not charge any fees for the use of the chair or the salon, we just expect them to bring their own supplies and keep everything clean (some families can supply color). The prices from the previous people ranged from $14.00 to $42.00 and up, depending on the procedure. We also require them to use COVID precautions, as per our guidelines as we are government-mandated to comply. For this reason, they could not wander the halls, they would need to be tested, even if vaccinated, they can’t use a blow dryer (at this time) and there are other precautions we also much adhere to. Only one person can be in the salon at a time (social distancing). They will be paid directly through the resident’s trust fund, so as long as they follow the lists we provide, they should not suffer any bad checks or loss of income.
In the past, we have had two people who worked in our salon and they each did half days so they could pursue other clientele.
Open to discussion to determine a good outcome for the workers, the residents, and the administration.
Absolute requirements include a license, 1099, insurance, and full background check, including drug test. This will be a contract position.
